Even when: 다가도

A / V + 다가도 combines 다가 and 도 to show a sudden change in action or situation. It can be equated to the structure ‘even when I am V1-ing, I stop and V2’. It often occurs with an ‘if’ clause:

Even when I’m tired, if my girlfriend calls then we hang out.

In high school, even when we were preparing for exams I used to go out and play football.

Even when I was angry if I heard my favourite song on the radio I would get up and dance.

Even when I’m studying a lot, if I receive a Facebook message from my UK friends I always respond.

Even when I’m depressed, if I go for a run I clear my head and start feeling better.
