The more... the more...: (을)수록

V + (을)수록 is used to say ‘the more you V… the more…‘:

운동할수록 건강에 좋아요.

The more you exercise the more healthy you are.

책을 읽을수록 좋아요.

The more books you read the better.

돈을 벌수록 돈을 써요.

The more money you earn the more you spend.

빨리 일할수록 자유 시간이 많이 있어요.

The faster you work the more free time you have.

이 영화는 볼수록 재미없어요.

The more I watch this movie the more boring it gets.

공부할수록 잘 잊어요.

The more I study the more I forget.

생각할수록 당황스러워요.

The more I think about it the more embarrassed I am.

This structure can be added to with different emphases:

술을 많이 마시면 마실수록 행동이 이상해져요.

The more alcohol I drink, the stranger my behaviour becomes.

한국어를 자주 쓰면 쓸수록 자신감이 많아요.

The more often I use Korean, the more confident I am.

(Note the repetition of the verb stem 쓰)

V + 을 수록 …어/아지고는 있지만 combines three different grammar points to show to both the positive and negative effects of one’s efforts: ‘the more I do V, the more it becomes… but a negative aspect is…’:

한국어를 공부 할수록 단어가 복잡해지고는 있지만 오랫동안 걸려요.

The more I study Korean the more complex words I know but it does take a long time.

한국말로 친구들이랑 이야기를 할수록 자신감이 늘어지고는 있지만 실수를 하면 당황스러워요.

The more I speak Korean with friends the more my confidence increases but when I make mistakes it’s embarrassing.

재활용을 할수록 환경이 좋아지고는 있지만 바레인에는 분리 수거 하는 곳이 많이 없어요.

The more you recycle the better it is for the environment but in Bahrain there aren’t many places to sort your rubbish.

시간이 갈수록 바레인에 익숙해지고는 있지만 아주 더운 날씨는 아직도 싫어요.

As time goes on I’ve become more accustomed to Bahrain but I still hate the very hot weather.

한국 음식을 요리할수록아지고는 있지만 바레인에서는 음식 재료가 너무 비싸요.

The more I cook Korean food the better I get at it but in Bahrain the ingredients are very expensive.

절약 할수록 돈을 저축해지고는 있지만 쇼핑몰을 갈 때 상품을 충동구매 하고 싶어요.

The more frugal I am the more money I save but when I go to the shopping mall I have the urge to buy things on impulse.

나이가 들을수록 자유가 많아지고는 있지만 책임을 더 져야 돼요.

The older you get the more freedom you have but you have to be more responsibility.

여행을 할수록 다양한 경험을 쌓아지고는 있지만 가끔식 고향의 편한 일을 그리워해요.

As I travel more I accumulate a range of experiences but sometimes I miss the comforts of home.
